For our family and friends from out of town, we want you to enjoy the city as locals. Here are some of our favorite spots to eat, drink, and explore.

Activities

Will take place during Oktoberfest Festivities

Bodensee — Our favorite restaurant in Helen! Bodensee serves amazing, authentic German food, and it’s family-owned by a German family. We highly recommend the käsespätzle, as well as the meat sample platter and escargot.

Hofbrauhaus — A great spot to sit by the river with a stein of imported German beer and enjoy the Oktoberfest atmosphere. We recommend the schnitzel, German potato salad, currywurst, and potato pancakes.

Hofer’s — Our favorite spot for breakfast! Kennedy’s favorites are the apfelküchle and the build-your-own lox bagel.

JumpinGoat Coffee & Tasting Room — Stop in for coffee, a beautiful view, and a selection of mead. It’s a great place to relax and take in the ambiance.

Anna Ruby Falls — A short, beautiful hike to one of our favorite spots in the area. It’s a hike we’ve done countless times and is always worth the visit.

Brasstown Bald — For some of the best views in North Georgia, head to Brasstown Bald. If you don’t enjoy a steep hike, don’t worry, the shuttle will take you nearly all the way to the top!

Explore Downtown Helen — Definitely spend some time wandering through downtown. There are plenty of hidden gems to discover, including an authentic German cuckoo clock shop.

For Couples — Take a stroll across the bridge and leave your mark by adding a lock! It’s a sweet little tradition and a fun way to commemorate your time in Helen.
